Deep dish pizza, cheese cake, ribs, kabobs, and the list goes on as you stroll through Chicago’s Grant Park during the Taste of Chicago. This yearly event (typically scheduled the last weekend of June and First weekend of July) brings out the ”Windy City’s” best cuisine. A combination of food stands, cooking demonstrations, and live entertainment makes “The Taste” the ultimate summer festival.
How to enjoy this foodie’s paradise you ask? Well continue reading…
1. Grab an event map. This handout will have restraunt descriptions and most importantly the location of bathrooms, ticket sales, and exits. It’s a jungle in there during the height of the day. Go to ticket stands that are located away from entrances and bring cash to make the most of your time. A strip of 12 tickets costs $8. Taste portions at booths will average 2-3 tickets and larger meals will cost you 9-10 tickets.
2. Sit down and make a game plan; you’ll definitely want to maximize your time and money by finding the stands that you must go to. Definitely find a good cheese cake spot (I recommend Eli’s and a Chicago Deep Dish stand…these are the city’s staples when it comes to food).
3. Try something unique and new…like a Frozen Chocolate Covered Banana.
4. Bring wet naps =)
