As the end of the year approaches, travel plans for the new year have begun to pop up on my radar. But before I get too ahead of myself, I thought I would recap my 2013 travels in commemoration of another year of safe travels and new experiences.
Later in the month I did some local exploring in Fort Washington, Maryland and then on to win 2nd place out of over 1000 contestants with some friends at Hunt DC. A local scavenger hunt with clues that take you to the various landmarks in the city.
After a few local jaunts, it was finally time to take to the skies. My first major trip of 2013 was to California.
So at the beginning of April, it was wheels up out of Dulles Airport for the first time on Virgin Atlantic airline. I greatly appreciated the extra legroom and on demand movies for the 5 hour flight into San Francisco.
This was another solo trip and my first time in California. So I put together and itinerary that would get me to Napa, Yosemite, and San Francisco in 5 days.
A month later for Memorial Day I headed to Aruba. But my solo adventures were not over yet as I took advantage of an overnight layover in Panama to do some sight seeing .
A day and a 2 hour flight later I was united with friends in Aruba for the Soul Beach Music fest. We didn’t attend any concerts but definitely took part in the sun, sand, and met several new travel buddies as we mingled with others in town for the weekend of music.
The final major trip of the year took me to Toronto, Canada via MegaBus (I will never ride the bus for 11 hours again in life) at the beginning of August for Caribana. Undoubtedly the world’s third largest carnivale next to Trinidad and Brazil, I was back in bathing suit attire to “stomp de road” with the Toronto Revellers Mas Band (we took third place).
